Congratulations to Caitlin this month’s member of the month at Iron Keel Strength. Get to know more about her!
What brought you to Iron Keel Strength?
I am so lucky that I was recommended to check it out from Jenny! I was in desperate need of some Cross Fit and butt-kicking workouts and my wish came true
What made you stay?
The people, the amazing coaches, the community, the amazing workouts that continue to strengthen my mind and body, all the amazing experiences, and the fact that I can see the physical changes from all the butt kicking. I do want to brag on the coaches for a minute though. I have come a long way from when I first stepped in the gym to where I am now. I owe a lot of the credit to all you guys (the coaches). I have learned so much about myself and how to be a better athlete because of ya’ll. I’m motivated to do my best, never quit, push harder, and learn through the good days and bad what it means to be an athlete.
How long have you been with Iron Keel Strength?
I can’t believe it but I’ve been a member since October, so almost four months!
What are some your goals? Have they been met?
To feel comfortable and confident in my skin for once. That goal has been met and over exceeded! My other goal was to have abs by Christmas and I halfway made it. I had two abs and was happy as a clam.
My current goals are to continue staying consistent and make it to the gym at least five days a week. Be bikini ready by no later than June because for once I would love to be able to wear a bikini and not feel like a sumo wrestler. And of course, I would love to work hard enough to make it to the 2020 or 2021 Crossfit games.
Deadlift!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to Pam, I’m using the right muscles and breathing right so I can lift heavier!
Benefits you have noticed? Any changes to brag about?
Overall I feel stronger, have better endurance, and can make it through a workout without puking (sometimes). I can somewhat string together double unders, have been hitting PR’s, and brought down my mile time by a minute and a half.
I’m loving how my arms look! Say goodbye to the old lunch lady flabby arms and hello to guns of steel. The rest of my body is slowly following in terms of toning and fat loss and it’s so much fun!
What do you do out there in the real world?
I am a full-time student at UHCL, and I work as a receptionist at a spa and in after-school care.
What’s your favorite workout?
I have a love/hate, but mostly hate relationship with the soul crusher workouts on Saturday. They always make me cry and sometimes puke. I love how they really push you into a dark place and you have to work hard on your mental game as well as the physical game to make it through it.
I also LOVEEEEE “Cindy” and “Murph”. “Cindy” was my first CrossFit workout and I was only able to make it through two and a half rounds of it.
What is your biggest Iron Keel Strength accomplishment?
Making second and third place at the competitions with my awesome partners! That’s a huge accomplishment and I’m super proud of them. It was a blast to take part in and I’m looking forward to the one in February!
Anything to add?
I cannot thank everyone enough. I love this gym, the coaches, and the workouts. Especially when life gets crazy and out of hand, I know I can walk into the gym and destress and focus on the task ahead of me. My life hasn’t been the same since and I am so grateful for having the chance to be a part of this amazing gym and all it involves.
